Emilene and Joe

Joe Riis is a wildlife photojournalist focusing on conservation and wildlife corridors. Joe grew up on the Great Plains in central South Dakota and received a dual degree in Wildlife Biology and Environment & Natural Resources from the University of Wyoming. Joe is 25, the 2009 biologist-in-residence at The Murie Center, an emerging member of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and a National Geographic Young Explorer.



Emilene Ostlind is pursuing a Masters of Fine Arts in creative nonfiction writing and environment and natural resources at the University of Wyoming.  A lifetime resident of Wyoming, she is passionate about protecting the wild beauty of this state.  Emilene believes that storytelling is one of the best tools for interacting with the world and affecting change, and she is excited about finding ways to make the stories of wild animals in her home state accessible to people all over the world.
